Three brave, adventuresome and creative souls met with me today for some truly inspiring play together. The emphasis was on goal free, judgement free experimentation and fun. For this workshop the central technique was the gel plate for mono printing.
Before getting into the gel plate printing though, we started with freestyle drawing on some lightweight craft paper. This involved mark making with mixed media markers, pencils and crayons to loosen up and really get the feel for playful messes. We then rolled out some paint on our gel plates and made our first gel prints onto this free style sheet.
After that we continued with exploring textures and masks using various materials like rubber bands, fresh collard greens, some stencils and then at the very end we jumped into image transfer with some successes - quite a feat!
So we tried many things and ideas and I was really inspired by how inventive and involved everyone was. So much fun with lots of surprises and awesome work to be found.
We all look forward to more!!!
